At DeNovo Legal, we take innovation seriously – and imitation lightly. Recently, we were made aware of a fraudulent website using a name and domain similar to BIOS
Law, our in-house legal-tech project. Unfortunately, this imitation isn’t a clever spin-out or an AI experiment – it’s a scam.
It appears that some inventive (but not in a good way) individuals have scraped bits of data from public sources and stitched them together to make it look as though
they represent “BIOS Law”, a fictional IP firm is sending misleading messages that try to alarm people about their intellectual property.
To be absolutely clear:
• BIOS Law is a technology project being developed by DeNovo Legal to help us deliver legal services more intelligently.
• BIOS Law does not send emails, issue invoices, or contact anyone directly.
• No data has been compromised, and the scam site has nothing whatsoever to do with us.
We’ve taken responsible steps – including contacting the domain registrar, notifying the Gardaí, and flagging the matter with EUIPO – to have the site removed. While
that process is ongoing, we thought the most transparent (and frankly, the most innovative) way to protect people was simply to publish this notice and leave it here as a comfort to anyone who might have a concern.
If you’ve come across anything claiming to be from BIOS Law, rest assured it’s not us. The only authentic source of information about our work is right here at DeNovo
Legal.
Innovation can inspire imitation – but this one deserves a takedown, not a patent.
